Children's Ballet in Düsseldorf – Unterbilk

Classical ballet for children from age 3 using the Vaganova method

Children's ballet class at the ballet school in Düsseldorf-Unterbilk

What is children's ballet at our school?

Children's ballet at Düsseldorf Ballett is far more than simply learning dance steps. The focus is on the joy of movement – through stories, music and imagination. The classes are designed to be age-appropriate and playfully develop motor skills, a sense of rhythm and body awareness.

We work in small groups so that every child gets the attention they need. Our teacher Alexandra Yust, trained in the Russian Vaganova method, always adapts her lessons to the group and to each child's individual pace.

What should my child wear?

For the trial class, comfortable clothing and socks are enough – no special outfit is needed. For regular lessons we recommend:

Please no crowns, long dresses or jewellery – they move around while dancing and are distracting. We are happy to advise you on anything you'd like to know at the first trial class.

What happens in the trial class?

The trial class is free and non-binding for children. Feel free to arrive 10 minutes before the class starts – that way we have time to get to know each other briefly.

Parents are warmly welcome to watch. Your child simply joins in – with no prior experience and no special equipment. After the class we are happy to answer all your questions about class times, clothing and further details.

Why ballet for children?

Ballet benefits children on many levels at once. What at first glance looks like a dance class is in fact holistic training for body and mind:

The Vaganova method – the foundation of our teaching – is a systematically structured Russian ballet training system. For children this means: every exercise builds on the previous one, the body is never overtaxed, and the joy of dancing is preserved.
